| If we do not implement a
monetization of peer2peer multimedia (MMS) sharing on mobile
networks, it will become a huge problem to artists, creators,
rights holders, the general public AND the telcos. As the
capacity to transfer rich multimedia mobile2mobile (p2p) on
mobile networks increases, so will the sharing of this
content.
|
Because of the sheer number of potential sharers,
(4 billion mobile users and growing) the sharing without fair
compensation to rights holders will cause a serious undermining
of our copyright systems and a false perception of mobile p2p file
sharers as pirates. Also, the sharing without compensation
to rights holders while generating financial gain for the telcos will
leave the telcos vulnerable to copyright infringement lawsuits.
